Opening Day!

During the month of August we officially opened our office in the Dust Valley.  We provide disaster relief, community health programs, and work in agriculture development.

This is a lunch we put on for local leaders to say, "Hey were here and we want to serve your people."

At a lunch like this, the appropriate meal is Osh.  Osh is made with rice, onions, carrots, garbanzo beans, all cooked in cotton seed oil.  The plate is then topped with meat that has been cooked in the cotton seed oil.  For the record, cotton seed oil is horrible for your health but tastes great.

Bread of Life

Img_0099 This is how they bake the bread that is the cornerstone of local food.

Img_0097 By the way, the best way to cook non (local bread) is over dried cow dung.

Look at the size of those mellons!

The Berries are GREAT!

All Summer we ATE!

Img_5047_2  Kurtob is a dish that is made with bread covered with sour cream and then you pour boiling oil on it to cook it.  Top it off with tomatoes and onions.  The only way to eat Kurtob is with your hands!

The Big Move

It seems I have done to much of this as an M.  I realize that I hate painting.

This is not our permanent kitchen, but Carla did cook quite a few meals from the outside.

This is a "kot" that we had built over the creek at our house.  It is a great place to welcome visitors and kick-it in the evening.

Head on Collision

On June 24th a group from our team, Mark and two national staff, were heading back to the capital when an oncoming vehicle swerved into their lane and struck them head-on.  Our truck was pushed off the road into two cars and then a tree.  We praise the Lord that no one was injured.  The truck was repaired and is back on the road today.

Pototaes Today

Here are two pics.  One of the potatoes we gave out growing into healthy potato plants.  If you look in the middle of the picture on the ground is a bowl of potatoes and a stack of potatoes, these potatoes came from seeds you donated.
